In accordance with our legal responsibilities, the Nuffield Theatre undertakes regular risk assessments of all potential hazards for members of the public and Nuffield employees.
The Nuffield Theatre is situated on the campus of Lancaster University, within the Great Hall complex. The theatre includes the 250-seat auditorium, a foyer area (shared with the Great Hall), a bar that is open for patrons only, toilet facilities (including for the disabled), rehearsal rooms, offices, set and prop-making rooms, a workshop and control room with lighting and sound facilities (no public access). There are disabled parking facilities close to the venue and ramp access via the main entrance.
The Nuffield Theatre is a venue for professional touring theatre and dance companies, and for the presentation of work by Lancaster University students. The theatre is also hired by outside parties.
All public areas of the Nuffield Theatre are inspected on an annual basis before a Public Entertainment Licence is issued by Lancaster City Council. This licence allows us to open our premises to members of the public and certifies that the building conforms to legal requirements. The Nuffield also holds Public Liability Insurance.
Risk assessment sheets are kept on file for all separate areas of our operation. If you have any specific questions relating to Risk Assessment, please contact Simon Attwood, Nuffield Stage Manager on 01524 594159 or email simon@nuffieldtheatre.com
