Tim Crouch : ENGLAND
Tickets £10 / £7 concessions

Written to be performed by two guides within an existing art exhibition, and recently presented by the National Theatre in London’s Whitechapel Gallery, the triple award-winning ENGLAND travels the trade routes of art and human beings through space and across borders.

Forget thoughts of skinheads or nostalgia, ENGLAND is about an empire of a different kind – one of transmigration and transplantation. It’s the story of one thing placed inside another: a heart inside another person’s body, a culture inside another country’s culture, a play inside an audience and a theatre inside a gallery.

This piece is performed in the Peter Scott Gallery, Lancaster University, during the exhibition Looking Aside, exhibition details here.

Directed by Karl James and a smith

Performed by Tim Crouch and Hannah Ringham

‘An endlessly thoughtful piece which artfully challenges a globalised world where everything is for sale, and questions the value we put on art and on human life.’ The Guardian

*A Night Less Ordinary - There are a limited number of free tickets available for this performance to those aged 16-25. Please contact the box office for further details.

This event is part of a collaboration with the Experimentality programme of Lancaster University's Institute for Advanced Studies - a year-long exploration of ideas and practices of experimentation in science and technology, the arts, politics, popular culture and everyday life.
