Brides needed for Town Hall wedding...

FREE Workshops and participation from 10-16 October 2009

The Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster and Mem Morrison Company are seeking up to 30 local female volunteers (aged 18+) for a site-specific celebratory performance, taking place in the Town Hall in Lancaster on the 15th and 16th October.

Structured around the traditions of the Turkish-Cypriot wedding ceremony, the performance will feature the participants playing the roles of wives and wedding guests.

Rehearsals are as follows:

Weekend 10th/11th Oct (10am to 4pm)

Evenings 12th/13th/14th Oct (6pm to 9pm)

Show on 15th (needed at 2pm)

Show on the 16th (needed at 4pm)

This is an amazing opportunity to be part of an exciting production following a successful run in London and at the Edinburgh Festival. Previous performance experience is not essential but you will be required to learn and take part in a number of tightly choreographed set pieces, some to music, with other women throughout the performance.

Mem Morrison is a performance artist, director and writer who has been making his own, highly personal work since 1995. He is interested in exploring the notion of autobiography and how this can be challenged in terms of personal history, memory and authenticity. Mem has created projects for stage, galleries and site-specific locations. The work varies in scale from solo to collaborations with sound artists, filmmakers, musicians and community groups.

Supported by the Nuffield Theatre and Lancaster City Council.
