Deer Park is an emerging international theatre company formed in 2002 at Dartington College of Arts. Their work takes place between theatre and dance, never being quite one or the other: a strange and beautiful choreography of movement, spoken word, written text and sound. Each performance is informed by the recurrence of certain moods and attitudes: a polite melancholic slowness, a chuckling seriousness, a surprising speed, a humble, elegant intellectualism.
In See you Swoon, a strange landscape begins to emerge: year long journeys are undertaken; a lecture turns into song, a dance into a repetitious falling to the ground; we wait, and we look into the audience as if to say: “Well I can tell by your eyes that you’ve probably been crying forever…”
Best Devised Piece, National Student Drama Festival, Scarborough 2003.
